Softimage led the way in advanced IK character animation tools for high-end 3D users with the Actor module. The work on Actor started in late 1990, and it was first shown in public at Siggraph 1991 in Las Vegas. It was first released in version 2.51 of the Softimage Creative Environment in early 1992.
